Cloud Seeding For Rain
Cloud seeding is a weather modification technique that improves a cloud’s ability to produce rain or snow by artificially adding condensation nuclei to the atmosphere, providing a base for for snowflakes or raindrops to form. After cloud seeding takes place, precipitation falls from the clouds back to the surface of the Earth
During acute weather conditions where there is a grave scarcity of water, there have been many deaths happening in Pakistan & around the world . People don’t get sufficient water for their survival. But, science has left nothing unfinished and thus, even these famines can be aptly subsided.
How to Seed the Cloud
The seeds are generally sparged on the clouds by plane or by spraying on them from the ground through ground generators or by a rocket. Cloud seeding is basically a modification of the weather by spraying substances to the clouds that is actually a cloud nuclei.
History & Future
- The US was among the first to develop the technology to induce artificial rain post World War II but since then, over 50 other countries have initiated weather modification Programmes, according to data from the World Meteorological Organization
- In December last year, Beijing unveiled plans to cover some 5.5 million sq. km (60 per cent of China’s landmass) with its cloud-seeding programme by 2025
- Some have warned, that in the absence of any regulation around unilateral weather modification Programmes – cloud-seeding may lead to geopolitical conflict resulting from ‘rain stealing’ across regional borders
it appears China has taken the lead in this regard. In January, China successfully undertook the first flight of its weather modification drone, the Ganlin-1 – indicating the progress it was making in driving down the costs of cloud-seeding while improving efficiencies. In December last year, Beijing unveiled plans to cover some 5.5 million sq km (60 per cent of China’s landmass) with its cloud-seeding programme by 2025.
Meanwhile, having boosted its weather modification budget by 30 per cent in the last five years, Thailand has outlined an aim to rid 98 per cent of all drought-affected regions of water scarcities by 2037.
The UAE oversaw more than 200 cloud seeding operations in the first half of 2020, successfully creating excess rainfall, the National News reported.
There have been successes in the U.S., as well as China, India, and Thailand. Long-term cloud seeding in the mountains of Nevada have increased snowpack by 10% or more each year, according to research published by the American Meteorological Society. A 10-year cloud seeding experiment in Wyoming resulted in 5-10% increases in snowpack, according to the State of Wyoming.
In March, Thailand announced a three-year partnership with Indonesia to share weather modification technology and expertise. The technology is gaining traction in Africa as well with Ethiopia, in April, conducting an artificial rain demonstration. “Such techniques will make dry places more livable and productive,” said Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed.
Where is Pakistan? Where are Pakistani Scientist & Universities? Where is NDMA? Must be in some Jugar (Slang) or making smart moves to make money.
